CSN plans to double iron ore capacity by 2026

CSN Mineração (CMIN), the iron ore business under Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), has made its expansion plan until 2032.

In the first phase, the company aimed to double its iron ore production capacity by 2026 and then make its capacity grow by another 75% to 116 million tons per year by 2032. CMIN will invest R$12 billion to expand the iron ore capacity over the next 10 years.

In 2026, the first phase of the expansion will bring an additional 5 million and 2.5 million tons of iron ore. CMIN will be a leader with premium iron ore by 2032 and become the fifth largest iron ore producer in the world.

CMIN’s production, including third-party purchases, was expected to reach 39-41 million tons in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 10%.
