According to statistics from South East Asia Iron and Steel Institute (SEAISI), Indonesia exported around 3 million tons of semi-finished steel products to China in 2021, including 97,000 tons of stainless steel sheets, 1.2 million tons of semi-stainless steel products, 422,400 tons of carbon steel sheets, and 1.3 million tons of carbon steel billet.
This amount accounted for 22% of China's total imports of semi-finished steel in 2021. Therefore, Indonesia became the largest supplier, whose export share to China has gone up significantly from 10% in 2020.
Among these exports, Dexin Steel Indonesia (DSI) was the main supplier. DSI's head office is a joint venture between Delong Holdings Limited and Tsingshan Group. The main products are carbon and stainless steel products.
