ArcelorMittal invests EUR 10 million in Avilés plant to produce steel for solar structures

The largest steel producer in Europe, ArcelorMittal, began the construction of the galvanizing line 1 at its Avilés plant in Spain on March 23. This investment cost more than EUR 10 million.

The new production line will produce Magnelis, a steel with a metallic coating composed of zinc, aluminum, and magnesium that has better protection than standard galvanized steel.

This special steel is mainly used for solar panel structures and there is a high demand linked to decarbonization projects.

The construction will finish at the end of the year, then the plant will be able to add Magnelis to its product portfolio.
