The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) registered notable surge during the month of November 2020. The monthly production statistics suggests that output by 64 countries has increased by nearly 6.6% over the previous year.
The world crude steel production totalled 158.261 million tonnes (Mt) in November this year, as compared with the output of 148.417 Mt a year before. China, India and Japan continued to be the world’s top three steel producers. Out of the leading steel producers, China and India recorded higher steel output over the previous year, whereas the Japanese output slumped.
The cumulative steel output during the first eleven months of 2020 totalled 1.670 billion tonnes. This compares with the output of 1.692 Mt in Jan-Nov ’19.
