Four Chinese steelmakers have recently started to carry out equipment maintenance, affecting the production of finished steel, Kallanish notes.
Yan Group Lianxin Steel started maintenance of a wire rod production line on 10 July, which it will complete on 19 July. The maintenance is expected to affect daily output of 2,500 tonnes of wire rod.
Anshan Iron & Steel started a two-day maintenance of its 260 series stainless bar mill on 13 July. A 2,800mm medium plate line will also be overhauled for five days starting from the same day. The maintenance is expected to affect daily output of 3,000-4,000t of bars and 3,000-4,000t of medium plate.
Shandong Panjin Steel Tube Manufacturing overhauled one 219 series and one 273 series hot rolling line starting on 15 July. The ten-day maintenance period is expected to result in a reduction of 50,000t of hot rolled coil for tubes.
Echeng Iron & Steel, part of Baowu, plans to postpone the maintenance of its 4,300mm wide and thick plate production line to 25 July, which was originally scheduled to start on 15 July. The work will last for 14 days and affect a total output of 40,000t of various finished steel.
