Longteng Special Steel in Jiangsu Province's Changshu city has started construction of its welding material project this week, Kallanish notes. It is expected to commission within the next two years.
The production line will produce mainly high-strength special welding materials, with a planned production capacity of 1.2 million tonnes/year. The products are mainly used in high-end assembly and manufacturing fields such as ocean platforms, ships, high-speed rails, and automotive. They will include 600,000 t/y of special fittings for high-pressure oil and gas pipelines.
Longteng Special Steel is one of the largest ship steel production bases in China, with 2.5m t/y of capacity. It also produces high-strength PC steel rod and hot-rolled steel ball bearings.
