Daily crude steel production among China’s 318 steel mills under Mysteel’s regular survey reversed down in early September after growing continuously since late July, with the tonnage over September 1-10 lower by 5,800 tonnes/day or 0.2% from the all-time high in late August at 2.99 million t/d on average, according to Mysteel’s data.
The 318 steel producers comprise 247 blast-furnace (BF) and 71 electric-arc-furnace(EAF)steel producers across China. The retreat in steel output was mainly attributed to the fact that some domestic steel producers conducted maintenance on their steelmaking facilities after noting the slowing demand from end-users and their meagre profits.
