Semis

• Suppliers have hiked offers for billet to China, Kalllanish notes. Vietnamese blast furnace billet is now offered at $460/tonne cfr - source: Kallanish

 

Bar/ Wire rod

• Kallanish assessed SAE 1008 6.5mm diameter mesh-grade wire rod at $490-495/t cfr Manila on Thursday, up $10 on-week. - source: Kallanish

 

• Vietnamese induction furnace SAE 1018 wire rod has been ordered at $485/t cfr and offers on Thursday were at $495/t cfr. A trader reports he received an offer for Chinese wire rod at $525/t cfr on Wednesday after being quoted $515/t cfr earlier this week. - source: Kallanish

 

• Turkish rebar offers, which stood at $445-450/tonne fob Turkey a week ago, currently appear mostly at $460/t fob actual weight, though $465/t fob is also available from some producers. - source: Kallanish

HRC/ Plate

• Southeast Asian buyers have ramped up their enquiries and prices are at $470/tonne cfr, and rising, sources say. A Chinese buyer paid $455/t cfr early this week, but subsequent offers came in at over $480/t cfr, with bid indications at $470/t cfr. Buoyant demand elsewhere is likely to enable sales at close to offer levels, amid rising HRC indications in China and wider Asia, and low slab import availability, traders note. - source: Kallanish

 

• “The mills themselves don’t know where prices are,” a Belgian stockholder of plate tells Kallanish. He tells of a recent project-related offer for S235 grade plate from a local producer at €540/tonne ($638), which he says is “…totally unrealistic”. He sees the range for the more customary grade S355 at between €500/t and $530/t; some buyers in the Netherlands tend towards the lower end. - source: Kallanish
