Productivity and Yield in the Steel Industry
Iron and Steel Institute of Thailand (ISIT), in cooperation with National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University conducted the project to develop off-gas analysis system and mathematical simulation [reactor model and Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) model] for studying the combustion in high temperature metallurgical furnace. The objective of this project is to decrease the energy consumption in steelmaking industry by improving the efficiency of chemical energy from combustion reaction in high temperature metallurgical furnaces by using all developed technology. The Research Team had installed the off-gas analysis equipment to continuously monitor waste gases from combustion and developed the mass & heat balance model to evaluate the efficiency of the combustion in reheating furnace
