  • East China, domestic, grade III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 3,740-3,780 yuan ($523-528) per tonne, including value-added tax.

Steel Prices in Other Countries

 

Scrap

  • Fastmarkets' daily index for steel scrap, HMS 1&2 (80:20 mix), Northern Europe origin, cfr Turkey, was $219.88 per tonne on October 8, stable day-on-day. – source: Fastmarkets

 

  • Scrap prices in Italy are forecast to lose a further €15/tonne ($16/t) in the second half of October, sources in the industry tell Kallanish. - source: Kallanish

 

Semis

  • Billet suppliers from the CIS continue to reject lower-priced bids, encouraging a consolidation of prices at current levels of around $350/tonne fob Black Sea. - source: Kallanish

Bar/ Wire rod

  • US rebar pricing remained stable last week, though import pressure appears to be ratcheting up, Kallanish hears from market sources.
