EAF Slag: A Product No Longer a Problem

Maintaining an appropriate superheat range during continuous casting is critical to achieve sound internal/surface qualities and safe operations. An in-house superheat control model was developed at EVRAZ Regina Works for recommending the required ladle exit temperatures to achieve desired superheats in the tundish. This paper outlines the continuous enhancements of the model and the challenges to the operations.
