Five major Iranian iron ore pellet producers increased production 24% on-year in the month through 20 March to 1.86 million tonnes, Kallanish learns from the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (Imidro).
In the Iranian year through 20 March 2019 this production increased 49% on-year to 26.7mt.
Gol Gohar was the largest producer with 11.71mt. This was followed by Middle East Mines and Mineral Industry Development (Midhco) with 4.94mt, Sangan Opal Parsian with 3.65mt, Chadormalu with 3.56mt, and Sangan Steel Mining Industries with 2.87mt.
Iranian direct reduced iron output rose 17% on-year in the year through 20 March to 26.36mt (see Kallanish passim). DRI exports fell -25% to 533,000t.
Apparent finished product consumption declined -5% to 19.6mt. Finished product exports rose 84% to 2.99mt, but semi-finished product shipments abroad fell -29% to 4.9mt.
