World’s Topmost Crude Steel Producing Countries in January 2019

The crude steel output by world countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) rose marginally during the opening month of the current year. The monthly production data suggests that output by the 64 countries reporting to the association has edged higher by nearly 1% over the previous year. These countries had accounted for almost 99% of the total world crude steel production in 2017.

The world crude steel production totaled 146.705 million tonnes (Mt) in Jan ‘19, as compared with the output of 145.183 Mt in January 2018.

China led world’s crude steel production with an output totaling 75.013 Mt. The country accounted for more than 51% of the global steel production.
