The Dominican Republic has initiated an official antidumping investigation on imports of rebar from Costa Rica. This is according to a document from the country's Regulatory Commission for Unfair Practices in Commerce and Safeguards Measures (CDC) monitored by Kallanish.

The product under investigation is classified under HS codes: 7214.10. 00, 7214.20.00, 7214.30.00, 7214.91.00 and 7214.99.00.

In the document, the Dominican authorities note that there is sufficient evidence of damage to the domestic output of the said product in the period from May 2017 to April 2018.

The investigation was begun on 30 July following a complaint from the local steelmaker Gerdau Metaldom.
