Finished steel output up by 1.4 pct in Jan-Apr 2017 YoY; consumption fell by 10.7 pct

Turkish finished steel production in the first four months of 2017 increased by 1.4 pct to 12.3 mln tons YoY, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers’ Association (TCUD),

In January-April 2017, long steel production declined by 8.7 pct to 8.01 mln tons, but flat steel output increased by 28.2 pct to 4.23 mln tons YoY.

Total finished steel consumption in January-April 2017 was down by 10.7 YoY to 10.3 mln tons. In the same period, domestic steel consumption of long products dropped by 19.5 pct to 4.77 mln tons YoY. Flat steel consumption decreased by 1.2 pct to 5.51 mln tons YoY. Flat steel consumption accounted for 53.6 pct of total domestic steel consumption.
