Long steel

  • Platts assessed 16-20mm diameter BS500 rebar at $327-331/metric ton FOB China actual weight, unchanged on the day. – source: Platts

 

  • In Beijing’s retail market on October 13, spot prices for 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar were assessed at Yuan 2,465-2,475/metric ton ($367-368/mt) ex-stock including 17% VAT, flat day-on-day. This marked its highest level since September 22. - source: Platts

  • Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3.0mm thick at $380-383/metric ton FOB China Thursday, with the implied midpoint of $381.5/mt up $4/mt on day. source: Platts

 

  • In Shanghai’s dealer market the same day, Q235 5.5mm HRC was assessed at Yuan 2,810-2,820/mt ($418-419/mt) ex-stock with 17% VAT, down Yuan 10/mt on day. – source: Platts

Scrap

  • Metal Bulletin’s daily index for Northern Europe-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) closed at $211.74 per tonne cfr on the day, falling by $1.58 per tonne compared with Wednesday. - source: Metal Bulletin

  • Billet was booked from a CIS supplier at $340 per tonne cfr in early October, with offers from the region at $335-340 per tonne cfr. – source: Metal Bulletin

 

  • S&P Global Platts assessed its daily CIS export billet price at $320/metric ton FOB Black Sea on Thursday, steady on the day. - source: Platts

 

 

Bar/ Wire rod

  • To Hong Kong, offers for Chinese rebar were around $345/mt CFR actual weight, equivalent to $336/mt FOB assuming a freight rate of $9/mt, according to market participants. - source: Platts

 

  • An eastern Chinese mill held its offer at $350/mt CFR Singapore theoretical weight ($347/mt FOB actual weight) while a second mill in the region quoted at $340/mt FOB theoretical weight, equivalent to $351/mt FOB actual weight with 3% volume tolerance. - source: Platts

 

  • Metal Bulletin’s weekly price assessment for rebar exports out of Turkey on Thursday was $370-380 per tonne fob, up from $360-365 per tonne last week. Turkish mills were trying to increase their offers to $370-400 per tonne fob, while bids for the material came in around $370-375 per tonne. - source: Metal Bulletin

 

  • Kardemir set its new sales price for rebar at TRY 1,172 ($379)/metric ton ex-works Wednesday, TRY 37 ($12)/mt higher than its previous list price. The company also determined its new sales price for standard billet Wednesday at $340-345/mt ex-works, also up $10/mt on its previous list price.
