Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • East China, domestic, grade III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,260-2,300 yuan ($338-344) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, grade III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,450-2,480 yuan ($366-370) per tonne, including VAT– source: Steel First

 

  • Platts assessed 16-20mm diameter BS500 rebar Tuesday at $316-322/metric ton FOB China actual weight, up $6.5/mt from Monday. - source: Platts

 

  • On Tuesday Platts assessed 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar at Yuan 2,565-2,595/mt ($384-388/mt) ex-stock actual weight, including 17% VAT, up Yuan 95/mt ($14/mt) on-day. - source: Platts

 

Flat steel

  • China, export, hot rolled coil, offered at $385 per tonne cfr, to Saudi Arabia. – source: Steel First

 

  • East China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,660-2,680 yuan ($397-400) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,580-2,600 yuan ($385-388) per tonne, including VAT.– source: Steel First

 

  • Platts assessed SPCC grade 1.0mm thick CRC at $388-392/metric ton FOB China Tuesday, implying a midpoint of $390/mt FOB – $7.5/mt up on the week. The export price spread between China-origin CRC and HRC was $27.5/mt on Tuesday. On the same day, Chinese domestic prices for same-grade CRC were assessed at Yuan 2,980-3,080/mt ($446-461/mt), up Yuan 125/mt on week. - source: Platts

 

  • Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3.0mm thick at $360-365/metric ton FOB China Tuesday, implying a midpoint of $385.50 that was up $4/mt on day. In Shanghai’s dealer market, Q235 5.5mm HRC was assessed at Yuan 2,670-2,680/mt ($400-401/mt) ex-stock with 17% VAT, up Yuan 35/mt on day. - source: Platts

Scrap

Semis

  • S&P Global Platts assessed its daily CIS export billet price at $312.50/metric ton FOB Black Sea Tuesday, stable on day. - source: Platts

 

 

Bar/ Wire rod

HRC/P

  • Platts maintained its north European hot rolled coil assessment at €415-420/mt ex-works Ruhr Tuesday. -source: Platts

 

  • S&P Global Platts maintained its daily HRC and CRC assessments at $620-$640/st and $820-$840/st, respectively. Both prices are normalized to a Midwest (Indiana) ex-works basis. -source: Platts

 

  • There was an increase of $14/metric ton or 4% in the weekly average of TSI’s daily reference prices for HRC in Asia to $367/mt CFR ASEAN port. Cold reduced coil and plate prices also gained ground in this region. -source: Platts
