Long steel

  • Platts assessed 16-20mm diameter BS500 rebar at $404-409/metric ton FOB China actual weight, down by $4.5/mt FOB on day. -source: Platts

 

  • Hebei Iron and Steel Group has announced its wire rod guidance prices for early May, for harden wire rod 40-60 with diameter 6.5mm prices are at RMB3,300/ton; the 82B wire rod with diameter of 8-13mm prices are at RMB3,450/ton; those for H08AE wire rod with diameter of 6.5mm prices are at RMB3,430/ton, above prices are included VAT. -source: Yieh

 

  • East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,710-2,790 yuan ($418-430) per tonne, including VAT.  North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,840-2,900 yuan ($438-447) per tonne, including VAT. – source: Steel First

Scrap

  • Platts assessed US East Coast shredded scrap at $320/mt FOB, up $16.50/mt on day. - source: Platts

  • Taiwan's Feng Hsin Steel, scrap buying prices were raised by NT$300 ($9) per tonne, while its rebar selling price is now NT$500 ($15) per tonne higher, a company official confirmed to Steel First on Wednesday May 4. - source: Steel First

  • Platts assessed its daily CIS export billet price at $417.5/metric ton FOB Black Sea Wednesday, $5/mt down on day. - source: Platts

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Platts assessed Turkish export rebar at $505/metric ton FOB Wednesday, up $12/mt on day. - source: Platts
  • Platts on Monday raised its monthly US 2x2x1/4-inch angle price assessment to $588-$603/st, ex-works, up from $558-$573/st. - source: Platts
  • Feng Hsin's new rebar base price will be NT$15,300/ton and its scrap purchasing price will be NT$8,300~8,800/ton. At the same time, Feng Hsin has announced to hold its steel section flat for this week which the new base price will stay at NT$18,000/ton. -source: Yieh


HRC/P

  • Steel First's weekly assessment of HRC import prices in Southeast Asia – which takes into account Chinese 2-3mm SAE1006 HRC and equivalent grades sold into Vietnam – was $455-465 per tonne cfr for the week ended Monday May 2, down from the previous week's $470-490 per tonne cfr.  - source: Steel First

 

  • Asian HRC, Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3.0mm thick at $422-430/metric ton Wednesday, implying a midpoint of $426/mt that was down $8/mt on the day. - source: Platts
