Scrap

  • Platts assessed East Asian bulk HMS I/II 80:20 scrap at $240-$245/mt CFR Wednesday, up from the previous week's $235-$240/mt CFR. On Wednesday, Hyundai Steel was heard by Japanese and Korean trading sources to have bid H2 scrap at Yen 22,000/mt FOB ($199/mt), unchanged from its purchase prices in the previous week. Platts assessed its weekly H2 price at Yen 22,000-22,500/mt FOB Tokyo Bay, up from last week's assessment of Yen 22,000/mt FOB. The implied mid-point of Yen 22,250/mt FOB was Yen 250/mt up from last week. - source: Platts

  • On Friday April 8, Platts increased its assessment of Russian 12-14mm rebar to rubles 23,050-23,390 ($339-344)/mt CPT Moscow, marking a week-on-week increase of rubles 2,000 ($32)/mt. - source: Platts


HRC/P

  • Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3.0mm thick at $385-390/metric ton Friday, with the midpoint of $387.50/mt up $10/mt on the day. The same grade coil on a CFR East-Asia basis was assessed at $393-398/mt, up $14/mt on week. Q235 5.5mm HRC was assessed at Yuan 2,630-2,650/mt ($406-409/mt) ex-stock with 17% VAT, implying a midpoint of Yuan 2,640/mt up Yuan 50/mt on the day. - source: Platts
