Long steel

  • On February 29, Platts assessed R3-length API J/K55 casing with buttress thread coupling and sizes of 177.8x8.05mm (7 inch, 23 lb/ft) from Chinese mills and finishing lines at $440-490/metric ton FOB Tianjin port, up about $5/mt from the month before. - source: Platts
  • East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 1,890-1,930 yuan ($288-294) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 1,930-1,940 yuan ($294-295) per tonne, including VAT. – source: Steel First

  • The average price of 8mm HPB300 high speed wire rod increased 8 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,122 yuan per tonne on March 1 (Tuesday) and that of 20mm HRB400 rebar rose by 9 yuan per tonne to 2,053 yuan per tonne. – source: SteelHome

  • East China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,080-2,100 yuan ($317-320) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,020-2,030 yuan ($307-309) per tonne, including VAT. – source: Steel First

  • Platts assessed export prices for SS400 12-30mm thick plate at $280-285/metric ton FOB on February 29, up by $15/mt from end-January. - source: Platts
  • Platts assessed Q235 5.5mm HRC in Shanghai at Yuan 2,090-2,100/metric ton ($319-321/mt) ex-stock with 17% VAT Monday, implying a mid-point of Yuan 2,095/mt that was up Yuan 5/mt from last Friday. - source: Platts
  • Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3.0mm thick at $295-300/metric ton FOB China, with a midpoint of $297.50/mt that was up $5/mt from last Friday. - source: Platts

  • The average price of 2.75mm hot-rolled coil in China increased by 4 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,272 yuan per tonne on Tuesday while that of 1.0mm cold-rolled coil moved up 2 yuan per tonne to 2,796 yuan per tonne. – source: SteelHome

Steel Prices in Other Countries

 

Scrap

  • Prices for imported scrap also rose sharply to as much as $191/mt CFR in Turkish mills' latest purchases of HMS 1&2 (80:20) throughout last week. - source: Platts
  • A steel producer in the Iskenderun region booked a European cargo, comprising 18,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (75:25) at $179.50 per tonne, 4,000 tonnes of shredded at $191 per tonne, 10,000 tonnes of HMS 1 at $193 per tonne and 3,000 tonnes of P&S at $195 per tonne cfr. The average price of the cargo was $186 per tonne cfr. - source: Steel First


Semis

  • Kardemir's sales price for standard billet was at $299-304/mt ex-works on Monday, $7/mt higher than its previous list price, while its bloom prices were up by the same amount, to $407/mt. Other Turkish mills' domestic billet prices were in the range of $295-310/mt.- source: Platts
  • Platts assessed its daily CIS export billet price at $257/metric ton FOB Black Sea on Monday, stable on day. - source: Platts
  • Slab price in Asia, Platts' monthly assessment for base SAE1008, SAE1006 or equivalent grade slab on February 29 was $240-250/metric ton CFR compared to $235-245/mt CFR on January 29. The implied midpoint of $245/mt CFR is up $5from last month. - source: Platts

 

Bar/ Wire rod

  • The Marmara-based company announced its sales prices for 12-32mm diameter rebar at TRY 1,250/mt ex-works for Istanbul and TRY 1,230/mt ex-works for Biga, Canakkale, equivalent to $358/mt and $352/mt respectively, without 18% VAT. The company's price for 10mm diameter rebar also went up to TRY 1,260/mt ex-works, while 8mm diameter rebar is now at TRY 1,270/mt ex-works for Istanbul. - source: Platts
  • Platts assessed Turkish export rebar at $325/metric ton on Monday, stable from the previous assessment Friday. - source: Platts
