Long steel

  • Chinese billet prices have been heard as low as $310/mt CFR Taiwan, down from $340-$350/mt three weeks ago. – source: Platts

 

  • East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 1,950-2,010 yuan ($318-328) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 1,980-2,020 yuan ($323-330) per tonne, including VAT.  – source: Steel First

 

  • Tangshan, domestic, billet, traded at 1,820 yuan ($297) per tonne, including VAT, 3pm Beijing.  – source: Steel First

 

Flat steel

  • East China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,160-2,180 yuan ($353-356) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm), traded at 2,100-2,120 yuan ($343-346) per tonne, including VAT. – source: Steel First
  • Base export transaction prices for August-shipment commercial-grade, chromium-added plate were at $340-345 per tonne fob on Wednesday July 1, unchanged from Steel First's assessment last week. The prices are at their lowest since July 2007.  – source: Steel First

 

Steel Prices in Other Countries

Scrap

  • Containerized scrap prices into Taiwan continued to slide Thursday, falling to $205-$210/mt CFR Taiwan for HMS I/II (80:20). - source: Platts

 

  • Platts assessed US West Coast containerized HMS 80:20 at $185-$190/mt FAS Port of Los Angeles on Thursday. The assessment midpoint was down $6/mt on day. - source: Platts

 

Semis

  • Platts assessed CIS billet at $345/metric ton FOB Black Sea Thursday, $2.5/mt down on day. - source: Platts

 

  • Offers for China-origin billet were heard at $315-320 per tonne cfr in Vietnam, at $340 per tonne cfr in Indonesia, $340-345 per tonne cfr in Thailand, and $337-345 per tonne cfr in the Philippines, down some $10-20 per tonne from two weeks ago.  Steel First assessed billet prices in Southeast Asia on Monday June 29 at $375-380 per tonne cfr, unchanged for a seventh consecutive week. - source: Steel First

 

 

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Platts yesterday lowered its daily domestic European rebar assessment by €2.50/mt to €425/mt effective ex-works. - source: Platts

 

  • Steel First's weekly price assessment for wire rod exports out of Turkey was $425-430 per tonne fob, down from $445-450 per tonne last week, while the weekly price assessment for merchant bar exports came down to $470-480 per tonne fob from $480-490 per tonne. - source: Steel First

 

HRC/P

  • Platts maintained its assessment of northwest European hot rolled coil at €380-€385/metric ton ex-works Ruhr on Thursday. - source: Platts

 

  • The Southern European hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices declined by another €8 per ton week-on-week to €372 per ton ex-works last week - source: Steel Index
