Long steel

  • The average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod decreased 9 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,469 yuan per tonne and that of 20mm HRB400 rebar dropped by 13 yuan per tonne to 2,369 yuan per tonne. – source: SteelHome

 

  • East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,210-2,270 yuan ($361-371) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,190-2,230 yuan ($358-365) per tonne, including VAT.  – source: Steel First

 

Flat steel

  • The average price of 2.75mm hot-rolled coil in China decreased by 8 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,609 yuan per tonne while that of 1.0mm cold-rolled coil down by 2 yuan per tonne to 3,176 yuan per tonne. – source: SteelHome

 

  • SteelHome daily price assessment of 8mm medium plate in China reached 2,800 yuan per tonne, down 10 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day. – source: SteelHome

 

Steel Prices in Other Countries

Scrap

  • The monthly average for Taiwanese scrap imports of HMS #1&2 80:20 fell by $2.40 a ton month-on-month during April to $230 ton CFR Taiwanese port. - source: Scrap Register

 

  • The latest move means that Japan's largest electric arc furnace operator will pay ¥26,000 ($217) per tonne for overland arrivals of H2-grade scrap to its Utsunomiya plant; ¥25,000 ($209) for seaborne and overland deliveries to Tahara; ¥24,500 ($205) per tonne for those to Kyushu; ¥24,000 ($200) per tonne to Okayama; and ¥23,500 ($196) per tonne to Takamatsu. – source: Steel First

  • Steel First assessed imported slab prices in Southeast Asia and East Asia at $300-320 per tonne cfr on May 18, down from the previous $310-325 per tonne range, which had been unchanged since April 13. – source: Steel First

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Steel First assessed Southeast Asia import rebar prices on Monday May 18 at $345-355 per tonne cfr, compared with $345-360 per tonne cfr from a week ago.- source: Steel First
  • According to company press release by Feng Hsin, the rebar prices will now be at NT$ 13,600 per ton The price for section steel during the week will be in the range of NT$ 17,500 per ton, holding steady when compared with the previous week prices.- source: Shanghai Metals Market

 

HRC/P

  • India's export prices for hot rolled coil (HRC) have fallen over the past two weeks by $10 to $380-400 per tonne fob for July shipments. - source: Steel First

 

  • Platts maintained its HRC price assessment Tuesday at $460-$465/st and its cold-rolled coil assessment at $570-$590/st. All prices are normalized to a Midwest (Indiana) ex-works basis. - source: Platts
