Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • The average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod decreased 9 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,632 yuan per tonne and that of 20mm HRB400 rebar dropped by 15 yuan per tonne to 2,592 yuan per tonne. – source: SteelHome


  • Prices for grade III 16-25mm rebar in Beijing was at 2,400-2,460 yuan ($391-401) per tonne during the day, up 10-20 yuan ($2-3) per tonne from last Friday. In Shanghai, prices for the same product fell by a similar amount to 2,410-2,460 yuan ($393-401) per tonne. All prices are inclusive of VAT. – source: Steel First

 

Flat steel

  • SteelHome daily price assessment of 8mm medium plate in China reached 2,953 yuan per tonne, down by 4 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day. – source: SteelHome

 

  • The average price of 2.75mm hot-rolled coil in China down by 5 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,714 yuan per tonne while that of 1.0mm cold-rolled coil down by 7 yuan per tonne to 3,435 yuan per tonne. – source: SteelHome
  • Prices for commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm) in Shanghai were at 2,500-2,530 yuan ($407-412) per tonne, while those in Beijing were at 2,450-2,460 yuan ($399-401) per tonne, unchanged from last Friday. All prices are inclusive of VAT. – source: Steel First

 

Steel Prices in Other Countries

Scrap

  • Platts assessment of Turkish premium heavy melting scrap I/II (80:20) imports rose $2.50/metric ton over during the week to Friday, reaching $257.50/mt CFR. The price had been stuck around the $255/mt level most of the week.  - source: Platts
  • On Friday, Platts raised its East Asian bulk HMS I/II (80:20) weekly assessment price o $253-255/mt CFR East Asia from the previous week's $250-255/mt CFR. - source: Platts

 

Semis

  • Platts raised its East Asian billet import assessment to $370-380/mt CFR Friday, from the previous week's $365-375/mt CFR. - source: Platts
  •  Platts assessed CIS billet at $353/metric ton FOB Black Sea Friday, $2/mt down on day. - source: Platts

 

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Taiwan's Feng Hsin Iron & Steel's list prices for rebar are at NT$14,700/ton; those for section steel remained at NT$18,000/ton.  - source: Yieh
  • Platts decreased its Russian rebar price assessment to rubles 22,550-22,850 ($392-397)/mt, down rubles 850 ($15)/mt week on week from rubles 23,400-23,700 ($389-394 exchange rate as at March 20)/mt CPT Moscow. - source: Platts


HRC/P

  • Ukrainian mills were offering HRC in the range of $380-390/metric ton CFR Turkey, down $5-10/mt week on week, while Russian offers were still around $400-410/mt CFR. - source: Platts

 

  • Platts kept its assessment of northwest European hot rolled coil stable Friday at €410/metric ton ex-works Ruhr. - source: Platts
