Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,350-2,390 yuan ($381-387) per tonne, including VAT. North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,200-2,250 yuan ($356-365) per tonne, including VAT. – source: Steel First
  • On March 4, Platts assessed Chinese 6.5mm diameter SAE1008 wire rod unchanged on-week at $345-355/metric ton FOB. - source: Platts

 

Flat steel

  • Platts assessed Q235 HRC 5.5mm thick in Shanghai at Yuan 2,530-2,560/metric ton ($404-408/mt) with 17% VAT Wednesday - source: Platts

 

  • Chinese offers for HRC 3mm thick and above this week are prevailing around $370-380/mt FOB ($405-415/mt CFR) Mumbai. - source: Platts

Steel Prices in Other Countries

Scrap

  • On average, scrap category E40 (shredded) was sold in Italy in February at €250-255/mt delivered, according to the latest report from the association Nuovo Campsider.- source: Platts

 

  • The average realized price of Turkey's scrap imports in January was around $318/mt CFR. - source: Platts

 

  • Baltic Sea suppliers were heard offering HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $260 per tonne CFR. - source: Steel First

 

  • The average price of H2 scrap in Kanto region was at 23,933/ton, dropping by ¥400/ton; that in Central region was at ¥21,320/ton, holding steady and that in Kansai regions was at 24,375/ton, remaining unchanged; all compared to the figures in the previous week. - source: Yieh

 

Semis

  • Platts assessed CIS billet at $352/metric ton FOB Black Sea Wednesday, up $1/mt on day. - source: Platts

  • Steel First assessed billet prices in Southeast Asia at $370-380 per tonne cfr on March 2, up by $5 at the lower end from a week ago. - source: Steel First

 

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Platts assessed Turkish export rebar stable on-day Wednesday at $432.50/mt FOB actual weight. – source: Platts
  • The Taiwan import wire rod prices averaged at NT$17,600/ton, falling by NT$336/ton from a month ago. In the same month, the export prices averaged at NT$22,254/ton, rising by NT$37/ton in a month ago. - source: Yieh

 

 

HRC/P

  • Turkish mills' domestic hot rolled prices have stayed at around $440-460/metric ton since last week, while stockists' prices were also stable in the range of $480-490/mt.  CIS-origin HRC offers also remained stable last week. Ukrainian offers were at $395-405/mt CFR, while Russian offers stood at $405-415/mt CFR.- source: Platts
