Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • Prices for grade III 16-25mm rebar in Beijing remained at 2,200-2,250 yuan ($358-366) per tonne, unchanged since February 6. In Shanghai, prices for the same product were at 2,330-2,390 yuan ($379-389) per tonne, flat since last Tuesday. – source: Steel First
  • The average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod is flat at 2,567 yuan per tonne on Tuesday and that of 20mm HRB400 rebar is flat at 2,499 yuan per tonne. – source: SteelHome

 

Flat steel

  • Platts assessed Q235 HRC 5.5mm thick in Shanghai at Yuan 2,540-2,570/metric ton ($407-412/mt) with 17% VAT last Friday, unchanged for nine working days. - source: Platts
  •  Platts assessed SS400 HRC 3mm and above thick at $370-380/metric ton FOB China, down from $430-435/mt FOB a month earlier. – source: Platts
  •  Commercial-grade HRC (4.5-12mm) in Shanghai was traded at 2,530-2,560 yuan ($412-416) per tonne, where prices have held since February 4.  In Beijing, the same product was traded at 2,440-2,450 yuan ($397-399) per tonne, also flat over the same period. - source: Steel First

 

  • China export transaction prices for April-shipment SPCC 1.0mm CRC narrowed upwards by $5 per tonne from a week ago to $445-450 per tonne fob on Tuesday February 17. - source: Steel First


  • The average price of 2.75mm hot-rolled coil in China is flat at 2,789 yuan per tonne on Tuesday while that of 1.0mm cold-rolled coil is flat at 3,614 yuan per tonne. - source: SteelHome

Steel Prices in Other Countries

Scrap

  • Taiwan HMS 1&2 80:20scrap buying price remained at TWD 7,200/mt since February 9. - source: Platts

 

  • Demolition scrap is reported to be sold by Spanish merchants this week at €210/mt delivered, with new arisings at€240/mt delivered.  - source: Platts

 

  • The weekly price assessment for Turkish domestic melting scrap from shipbreaking narrowed this week to $245-255 per tonne delivered, compared with $240-260 per tonne last week. - source: Steel First

 

  • The base prices of H2 scraps dropped further to at 23,000~23,500/ton in the Japanese Tokyo Bay region as of February 16th. At the same time, the base prices of P&S scraps and Shindachi scraps averaged at 25,500~26,000/ton in Tokyo Bay region, dropping by ¥1,000/ton. - source: Yieh

Semis

  • Platts assessed CIS billet at $355/metric ton FOB Black Sea on Monday, $2/mt down on day. - source: Platts

  • Steel First assessed billet prices in Southeast Asia at $365-380 per tonne cfr on Monday February 16, unchanged from a week ago. - source: Steel First

 

Bar/ Wire rod

  • The steelmaker's domestic list price for standard 13mm diameter rebar has stayed at TWD 15,300/mt ($487/mt) exworks Taichung in central-west Taiwan since February 9. – source: Platts

 

  • Spanish domestic mills are offering rebar at €150-160/metric ton base ex-works. – source: Platts

 

  • The northern European rebar reference price ex-works increased by €7/mt to €430/mt ($487/mt). – source: Platts

 

  • Turkish long steelmaker Icdas announced its sales price for 12-32mm diameter rebar at TRY 1,310/mt ex-works ($534/mt), which is equivalent to $438/mt, without 18% VAT. The company also reduced its 7-8.5mm wire rod prices by TRY 55/mt to TRY 1,370-1,400/mt ($557-569) ex-works. – source: Platts

 

 

HRC/P

  • The weekly average of last week's daily ASEAN import HR coil SAE 1006 reference prices CFR port fell by $11/mt to $398/mt. ASEAN import plate reference price CFR port declined by $4/mt to $389/mt. - source: Platts

 

  • Prices for hot rolled (HR) steel in the USA averaged $560-570 per ton in January, and by mid-February had fallen to about $520 per ton. - source: Steel First
