Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • Prices for grade III 16-25mm rebar in Beijing narrowed downwards by 20 yuan ($3) per tonne from a day earlier to 2,230-2,270 yuan ($361-367) per tonne during the day – source: SteelFirst
  • East China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,330-2,400 yuan ($377-389) per tonne, including VAT while North China, domestic, grade-III 16-25mm rebar, traded at 2,230-2,270 yuan ($361-368) per tonne, including VAT – source: Steel First
  • The average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod fell 12 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,592 yuan per tonne on Tuesday and that of 20mm HRB400 rebar lost 13 yuan per tonne to 2,524 yuan per tonne. – source: SteeHome

 

Flat steel

  • In China, commercial grade HRC (4.5-12mm) was traded at 2,580-2,600 yuan ($418-421) per tonne, up 20 yuan ($3) per tonne from a day earlier – source: Steel First
  • Shagang on Sunday clipped its ex-works prices for HRC and plate by Yuan 450/mt ($72/mt) and Yuan 200/mt respectively, as reported. - source: Platts
  • The average price of 2.75mm hot-rolled coil in China slipped 13 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 2,828 yuan per tonne on Tuesday while that of 1.0mm cold-rolled coil moved down 11 yuan per tonne to 3,656 yuan per tonne. – source: SteeHome
  •  SteelHome daily price assessment of 8mm medium plate in China reached 2,949 yuan per tonne on Tuesday, down 2 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day. – source: SteeHome

Scrap

  • The Platts daily assessment of containerized HMS 80:20 fell $5/mt Tuesday to $215/mt FAS Port of Los Angeles. - source: Platts

  • Steel First assessed billet import prices to Southeast Asia at $365-375 per tonne cfr on Monday February 2, down markedly from $400-405 per tonne a week ago – Steel First
  • The current CIS slab price of $360-365/mt FOB Black Sea. - source: Platts

 

  • Platts assessed the CIS billet price at $375/mt FOB Black Sea Tuesday, stable on day. - source: Platts

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Wire rod mesh quality East Asia imports in the range of $375-385/metric ton CFR. - source: Platts
  • Feng Hsin's price for standard 13mm diameter rebar remains at TWD 15,300/metric ton ($483/mt) ex-works Taichung in central-west Taiwan. - source: Platts

 

HRC/P

  • The weekly price assessment in Russia for 4mm HR sheet on Monday February 2 stood at 29,100-29,250 roubles ($421-423) per tonne cpt Moscow, including VAT, on partial pre-payment terms – source: Steel First
  • Steel First's price assessment for CIS-origin HRC was $415-430 per tonne fob Black Sea on Monday February 2, down from $420-440 per tonne fob last week – source: Steel First
  • Ukrainian mills were offering HRC in the range of $415-425/metric ton CFR Turkey, while Russian mills' latest offers were at $425-430/mt CFR against strong competition from China. Chinese mills' offers were as low as 405-410/mt CFR.  – source: Platts
