Steel Prices in China

Long steel

·         On January 23, spot seamless prices – which Platts assesses in grades of 20# 219x6mm (GB/T 8163) sourced frommills in eastern China – fell to Yuan 3,500/metric ton ($562/mt) including 17% VAT in Shanghai and down Yuan50/mt week-on-week.- source: Platts

 

 

Flat steel

  • Hebei Steel’s Q235 14-20mm medium plate prices were at RMB2,900/ton. Prices of SGH340 3.0mm hot rolled galvanized steel sheets is being offered at RMB4,350/ton. The company’s offers of CECC 0.5mm PPGI coil are staying flat at RMB6,150/ton. - source: Yieh

 

 

 

 

Steel Prices in Other Countries

Scrap

·         The base prices of H2 scraps dropped further to at 25,500~26,000/ton in the Japanese Tokyo Bay region as of January 23th. - source: Yieh

 

·         The weeklyIndian containerised shredded scrap import reference price declined by $4/mt to $325/mt CFR Indian West Coastport. - source: Yieh

 

·         Plattsassessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap I/II (80:20) at $306.50/metric ton CFR Friday, down awhopping $9.50/mt on week.- source: Platts

 

·         The daily USA-origin scrap price index closed at $306.93 per tonne cfr, also unchanged day-on-day – source: MB

 

Semis

·         Platts assessed the CIS billet price at $390/mt FOB Black Sea on Friday, down $3/mt on day.- source: Platts

 

Bar/ Wire rod

·         Taiwan CSC’s price of electric furnace (EF) Al-killed steel low carbon wire rod will be at NT$19,500/ton, that of high carbon wire rod will be at NT$19,300/ton and that of low alloy wire rod will be about NT$20,700/ton. – source: Yieh

 

·         Platts southeastern US rebar price assessment remained at $595-615/stex-works.- source: Platts

 

 

 

 

HRC/P

·         Platts assessed the spot price of Taiwanese and South Korean grade 304 2B 2m thick stainless cold rolled coil down from $2,350-2,400/mt CFR a weekago on slow demand and weak nickel prices.- source: Platts

 

·         Ukrainian mills are currently offering HRC in the range of $430-440/mt CFR Turkey for late-February shipments, whileRussian mills’ latest offers were also down $5-10/mt to $440-455/mt CFR Friday, sources said.- source: Platts
