Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • Offers of non-Chinese billet slipped $10/metric ton on week to $460-470/mt CFR – source: Platts

  • Average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod and 20mm HRB400 rebar both rose 1 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 3,011 yuan per tonne and 2,975 yuan per tonne respectively on Friday – source: SteelHome

 

Flat steel

  • The average price of 8mm medium plate in China kept flat at 3,374 yuan per tonne on Friday – source: SteelHome

Scrap

  • US Containerised shredded scrap prices were reported in a range of $350 to $355 per tonne cfr Nhava Sheva, down $10 from a week ago – source: MB

  • Turkish scrap prices dropped $5/mt last week, to finish at $322.50/metric ton CFR – source: Platts

Semis

  • Russian 3sp/ps 150mm billet offers were heard at $460-465/mt CFR Taiwan – source: Platts

  • Japanese slab was offered at $490-495/mt CFR Taiwan – source: Platts

Bar/ Wire rod

  • AMM's price for hot rolled Grade 1000 series 1-inch rounds slipped to $46 per hundredweight ($920 per ton) from $47 per cwt ($940 per ton) previously, while Grade 4100 series rounds came in at $54 per cwt ($1,080 per ton) against $55 per cwt ($1,100 per ton) in the same comparison – source: MB

  • One midwestern US rod buyer said domestic prices have generally fallen $20/st after a $20/lt decline in scrap prices – source: Platts

  • Feng Hsin's new rebar base price will stay at NT$16,900/ton, its scrap purchasing price will be NT$8,900~NT$9,800/ton and its price for small size sections is NT$18,500~NT$18,700/ton – source: Yieh

HRC/P

  • Base export transaction prices for commercial-grade, boron-containing HRC were at $470-480 per tonne fob for December shipment on Monday November 3, unchanged from Steel First's assessment last Friday, but down $5 per tonne from the lower end of the range a week ago – source: MB

  • The weekly price assessment for Turkish HRC imports was $510-525 per tonne cfr this week, with the lower end of the range representing offers from Ukraine and the higher end from Russia – source: MB

  • Platts assessed SS400 3mm thick and above HRC at a midpoint of $485/mt CFR East Asia Friday, $2.50/mt lower on week – source: Platts
