Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • Some 20,000 tonnes of Chinese rebar were sold by an international trader at $480 per tonne cfr – source: MB

  • Beijing prices for 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar were assessed up by Yuan 10/mt Tuesday at Yuan 2,720-2,730/mt actual weight and including VAT – source: Platts

  • The average price of 6.5mm Q235 high speed wire rod and 20mm HRB400 rebar both fell 1 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 3,013 yuan per tonne and 2,973 yuan per tonne respectively on Tuesday – source: SteelHome

     

Flat steel

  • Export transaction prices for SS400B-grade hot rolled coil (HRC) from China were assessed by Steel First at $475-480 per tonne fob on Monday, while import prices for Chinese SAE1006B, re-rolling grade HRC were at $490-505 per tonne cfr in Southeast Asia – source: MB

  • Domestic commercial-grade 14-20mm plate was traded at 2,890-2,920 yuan ($471-476) per tonne including VAT on Wednesday in the eastern Chinese city, down 20-30 yuan ($3-5) per tonne from Steel First's assessment last Friday – source: MB

  • SPCC 1.0mm CRC was mostly priced at Yuan 3,800-3,900/metric ton ($622-638/mt) with 17% VAT in Shanghai, down Yuan 25/mt from early last week – source: Platts

  • The average price of 2.75mm HRC in China market reduced by 2 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day to 3,216 yuan per tonne on Tuesday and that of 1.0mm CRC decreased by 1 yuan per tonne to 3,990 yuan per tonne – source: SteelHome

  • The average price of 8mm medium plate in China reached 3,381 yuan per tonne on Tuesday, down 5 yuan per tonne from the previous trading day – source: SteelHome

 

Steel Prices in Other Countries

 

Scrap

  • Prices for US-origin heavy melt shipped into Turkey could drop to $320-325 per tonne, according to several exporters – source: MB

Semis

  • Import prices for slab in Southeast Asia have moved below $500 per tonne cfr on the back of “aggressive” offers in the market from at least one Brazilian mill – source: MB

  • CIS-origin billet at $465/mt FOB Black Sea on Tuesday, stable on day – source: Platts

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Steel First's rebar price assessment was 2,251-2,280 dirhams ($613-621) per tonne ex-works on October 28, stable week-on-week – source: MB

  • Several Turkish rebar cargoes have been booked at $540 per tonne cfr, on a theoretical weight basis – source: MB

HRC/P
