Steel Prices in China

Long steel

  • Platts assessed China-origin actual weight 16mm diameter and up BS460/HRB400 rebar unchanged on week at $412-415/metric ton FOB – source: Platts


Flat steel

  • HRC normalized to SS400 and 3mm-plus thick at $475-480/metric ton FOB China, or a midpoint of $477.50/mt, unchanged from the previous week – source: Platts


Steel Prices in Other Countries



  • The base prices of H2 scraps have dropped to at 27,000~27,500/ton in the Japanese Tokyo Bay region as of October 22th – source: Yieh


  • CIS suppliers were heard offering billet at $475-480 per tonne cfr, while Chinese offers were as high as $490 per tonne cfr.- source: MB

  • Steel First's weekly price assessment for billet imports into Turkey was $470-475 per tonne cfr on October 23, down from $470-480 per tonne last week – source: MB

Bar/ Wire rod

  • Japan’s largest rebar producer, Kyoei Steel, has set its list price for base-sized rebars at Yen 65,000/metric ton ($606/mt) for November contracts – source: Platts

  • Wire rod was heard being traded at $570-590 per tonne ex-works in Turkish domestic markets but demand was not strong as buyers were not clear about the market direction – source: MB


  • Platts daily HRC and CRC price assessments remained stable at respectively €420/mt and €490/mt ex-works Ruhr on Thursday – source: Platts

  • The HRC price MMK tabled for its November rolling was initially €420/mt ($532/mt) FOB Black Sea and later on slipped to €410-412/mt FOB, the source commented – source: Platts

  • Steel First's CIS export plate price assessment stood at $555-575 per tonne fob Black Sea on Monday October 20, unchanged from the previous week- source: MB
