China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-          In Beijing, grade III rebar was traded at 3,140-3,160 yuan ($514-518) per tonne for the day, down 60 yuan ($10) per tonne from last Friday’s prices, and the first change since January 14 – source: MB

-          The most-traded May rebar contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange closed at 3,421 yuan ($560) per tonne on Monday, up 10 yuan ($2) from last Friday’s close – source: MB

-          Hebei Steel said on Tuesday February 11 that it would sell its 18-25mm HRB400E rebar at 3,220 yuan ($528) per tonne and its 6.5-10mm HPB300 wire rod at 3,400 yuan ($557) per tonne over the second 10 days of the month. The prices are up 20 yuan ($3) per tonne and 30 yuan ($5) per tonne, respectively - MB

Flat steel prices

-       Commercial-grade hot rolled coil (4.5-12mm) in Shanghai traded at 3,410-3,440 yuan ($559-564) per tonne on Monday, down 20 yuan ($3) per tonne from last Friday – source: MB

Scrap

-          A mill in Iskenderun booked a US cargo, comprising 12,500 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (90:10) and 5,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $365 per tonne, and 17,500 tonnes of shredded at $368 per tonne cfr – source: MB

-          USA-Turkey, February 7, deal, 45,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $365 per tonne cfr – source: Steel First

-          USA-Turkey, February 7, deal, 12,500 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (90:10), 5,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $365 per tonne, 17,500 tonnes of shredded at $368 per tonne cfr – source :Steel First

Semis

-          The London Metal Exchange’s three-month steel billet contract price stood at $360-370 per tonne on Monday February 10, unchanged since January 24 – source: MB

Bars/Wire rods

-          Offer prices for 6.5mm diameter SAE 1008 boron-added wire rod from certain Chinese suppliers have fallen by $5/metric ton to $515/mt CFR, Vietnamese trading and stockist sources said Monday – source: SBB

-          From Turkey the rebar offers are reported at $560/mt FOB, equivalent to around $590/mt (€432/mt) CFR Antwerp – source: SBB

HRC/P

-          Prices for A36 commodity plate moved up $10/st to a midpoint of $800/st ex-works southeastern US mill – source: SBB

-          In US Midwest, hot-rolled coil prices dropped over the course of last week from $670-680/st to $650-670/st – source: SBB
