China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-       On Beijing’s dealer market, spot prices for 18-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar sourced from Hebei Iron & Steel were assessed at Yuan 3,380-3,390/mt with 17% VAT, down from last Thursday’s Yuan 3,380-3,400/mt. – source: SBB

 

Flat steel prices

-       China’s export transaction prices for commercial-grade, boron-containing HRC were at $520-525 per tonne fob for February shipment – source: MB

-       On Friday, Q235 5.5mm HRC prices were about Yuan 3,640-3,670/metric ton ($600-604/mt) with 17% VAT in Guangdong's Lecong steel market, down Yuan 15/mt from the previous day. – source: SBB

 

Steel Prices in other countries

Scrap

-          Metal Bulletin’s daily index for HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap delivered to Turkey remained flat on Friday December 13, with no fresh deals heard in the market since Wednesday. The index closed unchanged at $388.20 per tonne cfr. – source: MB

-          Offer prices for billet imports into Southeast Asia last week were up from the first week of December, with the highest offer being $560/metric ton CFR for mainstream 100mm or 125mm square billet. – source: SBB

-          West Coast containerized scrap inched up Friday to $335-340/mt FAS Port of Los Angeles. – source: SBB

Semis

-          The London Metal Exchange’s three-month steel billet contract price remained at $260-270 per tonne on Friday December 13, unchanged since Monday – source: MB

-          CIS’s billet price is stabilizing at the previous week level. It is mostly traded at around US$500/ton but cheaper deals can be found in the market for the ports with higher winter risks – source: Yieh

Bar/Wire rod

-          In the Moscow market December-made 12mm and 14mm rebars are expected to go down to 20,750-20,800 and 20,400 rubles/mt with 18% VAT respectively – or 17,585-17,627 ($535-537) and 17,288 rubles/mt ($526) excluding VAT. – source: SBB

-          Feng Hsin, one of the major electric furnace mills in Taiwan, has announced the company will hike its price for rebar to NT$18,200/ton. – source: Yieh

HRC/P

-          Domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in Turkey increased by $10 per tonne. The new prices are $590-610 per tonne ex-works, up from last week’s $580-590 per tonne ex-works. – source: MB

-          Hot rolled coil (HRC) from Ukraine is traded up to US$540/ton FOB Black/Azov Sea and the material from Russia FOB Novorossiysk is traded up to US$555/ton – source: Yieh
