China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-       The average price of 6.5mm HPB235 high speed wire rod and 20mm HRB335 rebar in Chinese major markets moved up by RMB 1 to RMB 3,523 per tonne and RMB 3,503 per tonne, respectively on Monday – source: SteelHome


Flat steel prices

-       Chinese prices for Q235 5.5mm HRC were prevailing at Yuan 3,480-3,500/metric ton ($569-573/mt) with 17% VAT in Shanghai and Yuan 3,610-3,630/mt with VAT in Guangdong's Lecong steel market, both barely changed from last Friday –source: SBB

-       The average price of 2.75mm HRC in China market fell by RMB 2 to RMB 3,728 per tonne on Monday and that of 1.0mm CRC kept flat at RMB 4,518 per tonne – source: SteelHome

-       Prices of 8mm medium plate averaged RMB 3,877 per tonne on Monday, down RMB 1 per tonne – source: SteelHome


Steel Prices in other countries


-          The index for HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap delivered to Turkey cfr closed at $365.73 per tonne on Friday, up by $5.08 per tonne from Thursday – source: MB


-          The London Metal Exchange’s three-month steel billet contract price edged down to $245-255 per tonne on Friday October 11, from $250-260 per tonne on Thursday – source: MB

Bar/Wire rod

-          Rebar prices in Italy have fallen by around €5-10/metric ton to €235-240/mt base ex-works, with some transactions also at €230/mt base ex-works – source: SBB

-          One of Taiwan’s largest rebar producers, Feng Hsin Iron & Steel, has lifted its rebar list price by TWD 200/metric ton ($7/mt) to TWD 17,800/mt ($606/mt) ex-works Taichung – source: SBB

-          European grade-304 bright bar continues to be sold at €900-950 ($1,216-1,284) per tonne delivered for material to be produced in November, unchanged week-on-week – source: MB

-          Low-carbon wire rod prices have been stable across the US regions, with mesh-quality wire rod transacting at around $630 per ton ($31.50 per hundredweight) and industrial-quality rod at about $640 per ton ($32 per cwt) – source: MB


-          Platts increased its hot-rolled assessment to $645-$655/st from $640-650/st, - source: SBB
