China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-       The average price of 6.5mm HPB235 high speed wire rod in Chinese major markets reached RMB 3,516 per tonne on Oct.8, up RMB 4 from the last trading day before the Chinese National Day holiday; and that of 20mm HRB335 rebar inched up RMB 5 to RMB 3,489 per tonne – source: SteelHome

 

Flat steel prices

-       China’s prices of 2.75mm HRC averaged RMB 3,731 per tonne on Tuesday, down RMB 1 per tonne from the last trading day before the holiday; prices of 1.0mm CRC held steady at RMB 4,526 per tonne – source: SteelHome

-       China’s export prices hovered at $620-625 per tonne fob for November shipment on Tuesday October 8, unchanged from Metal Bulletin sister title Steel First’s assessment on Friday September 27 before the holiday – source: MB

-       Prices of 8mm medium plate averaged RMB 3,885 per tonne on Tuesday, down RMB 3 per tonne from the last pre-holiday trading day – source: SteelHome

 

Steel Prices in other countries

Scrap

-          Melting scrap from shipbreaking was being offered to other mills in western Turkey (Habas, Ozkan, IDC) at $360-365/mt delivered – source: SBB

-          The Platts daily shredded scrap assessment, is $358-363/lt delivered to Midwest mills, representing no change from early September – source: SBB

Semis

-          Steel billet import offer prices to the UAE have fallen by $20-25 per tonne since late September. The latest offers to the country, on Tuesday October 8, were $540-550 per tonne cfr from CIS countries – source: MB

-          The London Metal Exchange’s three-month steel billet contract price fell $5 to $235-245 per tonne on Tuesday October 8, from $240-250 per tonne on Monday – source: MB

-          Platts daily assessment moved up $1.50/mt to $498.50/mt FOB Black Sea in light of the increase in bid-offer

Bar/Wire rod

-          Rebar import offer prices to the UAE were at $585-595 per tonne cfr on a theoretical weight basis, down from last week’s $595-605 per tonne cfr – source: MB

-          One 10,000-mt cargo of debar was heard sold to Myanmar from China at $535/mt CFR Yangon, $50/mt below the FOB-based Turkish offer for the same business – source: SBB

HRC/P

-          HR sheet in 4mm gauges has been sold at 20,800-21,300 roubles ($645-660) per tonne cpt Moscow, including VAT, down from offers of 21,300-21,750 roubles cpt – source: MB

-          Current market prices for 19mm thick (1,524x3,480mm) SS400 grade plate in Tokyo are around Yen 82,000-84,000/metric ton ($845-866/mt). For non-graded commodity plates – which do not meet Japan’s Industrial Standards specifications – prices are around Yen 78,000-80,000/mt. Prices for both products have risen by Yen 1,000/mt ($10/mt) since the start of October – source: SBB
