China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-       The average price of 6.5mm HPB235 high speed wire rod in Chinese major markets fell by RMB 10 to RMB 3,573 per tonne on September 13 and that of 20mm HRB335 rebar reached RMB 3,536 per tonne, down by RMB 8 per tonne – source: SteelHome


Flat steel prices

-       China’s prices of 2.75mm HRC fell by RMB 15 to RMB 3,782 per tonne; prices of 1.0mm CRC dropped by RMB 1 per tonne to RMB 4,549 per tonne – source: SteelHome

-       Prices of 8mm medium plate dipped by RMB 11 to RMB 3,968 per tonne in China – source: SteelHome


Steel Prices in other countries


-          Hyundai’s latest bid for Japanese H2 grade scrap Friday was Yen 32,500/mt ($327/mt) FOB – source: SBB

-          Tokyo-area scrap dealers saw the average winning bid for October deliveries of H2 grade scrap edge up by ¥265 ($3) per tonne, taking the new price to ¥32,935 ($330) per tonne – source: MB

-          The US scrap suppliers offered HMS 80:20 (1&2) quoted at US$362~US$350/ton CFR this week and the transaction prices were at US$355/ton CFR, falling by US$7~US$10/ton from the previous week – source: Yieh


-          In India, billet prices on Thursday September 12 were Rs30,000-30,200 ($471-474) per tonne ex-mill, a rise of Rs1,200 ($19) per tonne compared with Rs28,800-29,000 ($452-455) per tonne ex-mill last week – source: MB

Bar/Wire rod

-          Turkish merchant bar exports was $625-645 per tonne fob, unchanged from last week – source: MB


-          The ex-works price of Northern European hot rolled coil (HRC) was €470-480 ($624-637) per tonne on Wednesday September 11, its highest level since May 15 and up from €450-470 per tonne the week before – source: MB
