China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-       Shagang’s list price for 16-25mm diameter HRB400 rebar was retained at Yuan 3,690/metric ton ($598/mt) with 17% VAT – source: SBB

-       The average price of 6.5mm HPB235 in Chinese major markets increased by RMB 1 to RMB 3,595 per tonne on September 2 and that of 20mm HRB335 increased by RMB 2 to RMB 3,554 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Flat steel prices

-       Eastern China-based steelmaker Shagang raised its domestic prices for hot rolled coil deliveries throughout September by Yuan 50/metric ton, bringing Q235 5.5mm HRC to Yuan 3,750/mt and 3.0mm SPHC HRC to 3,800/mt with 17% VAT – source: SBB

-       Prices of 8mm medium plate dropped by RMB 1 to RMB 4,024 per tonne in China – source: SteelHome

-       Base export transaction prices for commercial-grade, boron-containing HRC were at $535-545 per tonne fob for October shipment, up $5-10 per tonne – source: MB

Steel Prices in other countries

Scrap

-          Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has increased what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by JPY 500 to JPY 1,000 per tonne at all its facilities, effective with August 27 arrivals – source: SteelGuru

-          The daily Metal Bulletin index for HMS 1&2 (80:20) steel scrap remained stable on Monday September 2 at $371.13 per tonne cfr, unchanged from Friday – source: MB

Semis

-          Black Sea exports of slab prices up for October output to $505-520/metric ton FOB Ukraine/Russia, while billet offers settled down to $505/mt FOB Ukrainian ports for September output available – source: SBB

-          Platts daily billet assessment dropped to $503/mt – source: SBB

-          The London Metal Exchange’s three-month steel billet contract price stood at $160-170 per tonne on Monday September 2, unchanged since August 15 – source: MB

Bar/Wire rod

-          US rebar price stable at $645-650 ex-work – source: SBB

 

HRC/P

-          For customers in central Russia, 2mm thick HR sheet prices rose by 500-600 rubles/metric ton from August levels to 21,400-21,650 rubles/mt ($642-650/mt) – source: SBB

-          CSC decided to hike its domestic prices for hot rolled by NT$708/ton. Its domestic prices for SPHC hot rolled coils are at NT$20,101/ton – source: Yieh
