China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-       Chinese steelmaker Shagang prices for HRB400 rebar with diameter of 16mm-25mm are at RMB3,640/ton; those of HRB335 rebar with diameter of 16mm-25mm are at RMB3,610/ton, with 17% VAT – source: Yieh

-       China-origin actual weight 16mm diameter and up HRB400/BS460 rebar from $525/mt to $520/mt FOB based on deals to Singapore – source: SBB

-       The average price of 6.5mm HPB235 in Chinese major markets rose by RMB 5 per tonne from a day ago to RMB 3,543 per tonne and that of 20mm HRB335 surged by RMB 3 per tonne to RMB 3,495 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Flat steel prices

-       The Chinese steelmaker Shagang announced to raise its domestic prices for hot rolled coil (HRC) by RMB170/ton for August to RMB3, 700/ton with 17% VAT for Q235 HRC with thickness of 5.5mm – source: Yieh

-       China’s prices of 2.75mm HRC gained RMB 2 per tonne to RMB 3,765 per tonne; prices of 1.0mm CRC up by RMB 1 per tonne to RMB 4,480 per tonne – source: SteelHome

-       Prices of 8mm medium plate averaged RMB 3,972 per tonne in China, up RMB 3 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Steel Prices in other countries

Scrap

-          Japanese average price for H2-grade scrap currently stands at ¥29,537 ($301) per tonne, down ¥75 ($0.77) per tonne from last week – source: MB

Semis

-          CIS producers of billet managed to push through further sales close to their new asking price of $515/metric ton FOB Azov/Black Sea to some Mediterranean buyers – source: SBB

Bar/Wire rod

-          Brazilian rebar is currently being sold domestically at between Real 2,450/mt ($1,064/mt) and Real 2,550/mt ($1,107/mt), ex-works, after a rise of 6% in April – source: SBB

HRC/P

-          The price of hot rolled coil (HRC) imports into Southern Europe was up €10-20 ($13-27) per tonne to €430-450 ($571-597) per tonne – source: MB

-          China’s hot rolled coil export market remained slow this week as producers stuck to offers for SS400B 3mm-and-above HRC of $540-545/metric ton FOB – source: SBB

-          Offer prices for Chinese-origin boron-added SAE 1006 2mm thick HRC have risen to $575/metric ton CFR, up from the previous transaction prices of $560-565/mt CFR during the July 15 week – source: SBB
