China’s Steel prices

Long steel prices

-       Shagang’s prices for 16-25mm diameter HRB335 and HRB400 rebar were Yuan 3,440/mt ($558/mt) and Yuan 3,490/mt with 17% VAT, respectively – source: SBB

-       Beijing rebar was assessed at Yuan 3,380-3,390/mt with VAT for 18-25mm diameter HRB400 sourced from Hebei Iron & Steel, down Yuan 10/mt from Wednesday – source: SBB

-       The average price of 6.5mm HPB235 in Chinese major markets rose by RMB 1 per tonne to RMB 3,472 per tonne and that of 20mm HRB335 up by RMB 3 per tonne  to RMB 3,445 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Flat steel prices

-       Baosteel’s ex-works Q235 5.5mm HRC and SPCC 1.0mm CRC list prices remain respectively at Yuan 4,272/metric ton and Yuan 4,536/mt excluding VAT – source: SBB

-       On July 11, Q235 5.5mm HRC prices were Yuan 3,560-3,580/mt with VAT in Shanghai and Yuan 3,640-3,690/mt with VAT in Guangdong's Lecong steel market, up Yuan 25/mt and Yuan 35/mt respectively from the previous day – source: SBB

-       China’s prices of 2.75mm HRC increased by RMB 14 per tonne to RMB 3,712 per tonne; prices of 1.0mm CRC dipped by RMB 2 per tonne to RMB 4,468 per tonne – source: SteelHome

-       Prices of 8mm medium plate averaged at RMB 3,915 per tonne in China, up by RMB 3 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Steel Prices in other countries


-          In Japan, August deliveries of H2-grade scrap rise by 2.2%, or ¥668 ($7) per tonne, taking the new price to ¥31,188 per tonne – source: MB

-          US container HMS 80:20 (1&2) to Taiwan are at US$345/ton CFR this week, up slightly from US$342~US$343/ton CFR in a week ago – source: Yieh

-          Prices for grade 3A (equivalent to HMS 1&2 80:20) in the south Russia have risen to 8,500-8,900 roubles/metric ton ($261-273) delivered, up 3.5-4% from 8,250-8,400 roubles/mt a fortnight ago – source: SBB


-          One Chinese mill was offering rebar at $510/mt CFR Singapore theoretical weight and $520/mt CFR Hong Kong on July 11 – source: SBB

-          Russian domestic rebar prices is now at 16,410-18,370 roubles per tonne, up from the earlier 16,410-17,960 roubles per tonne– source: MB

-          Export prices for rebar in Spain, Portugal and Italy are now €430-440 ($551-564) per tonne fob main Southern European port, up by €5-10 ($6-13) compared with €425-430 ($545-551) per tonne last week – source: MB


-          Japanese 2mm thick HRC are prevailing at $565/mt CFR Vietnam, Korean HRC at $555-565/mt CFR, Taiwanese HRC at $550-560/mt CFR and Chinese boron-added HRC $550-560/mt CFR – source: SBB

-          Prices for hot rolled coil (HRC) produced in Northern and Southern Europe remained at €455-460 ($584-591) per tonne ex-works and €420-455 per tonne ex-works, respectively – source: MB
