China’s Steel Prices


-       Q235 5.5mm HRC prices were down Yuan 15/metric ton from Monday to Yuan 4,200-4,220/metric ton ($672-676/mt) with 17% VAT in Shanghai – source: SBB

-       prices of SPCC 1.0mm CRC were around Yuan 4,800-4,850/metric ton ($768-776/mt) with 17% VAT in Shanghai and Yuan 4,790-4,800/mt with VAT in Guangdong's Lecong steel market, up Yuan 50/mt and Yuan 70/mt from before the holidays (February 9-15) – source: SBB

-       Chinese prices of 2.75mm HRC remained at RMB 4,366 per tonne and prices of 1.0mm CRC increased by RMB 3 per tonne to RMB 4,884 per tonne – source: SteelHome

-       HRC prices in Shanghai had risen by almost 6% from the beginning of January to February 8 – source: SBB

-       Prevailing base transaction prices for commercial-grade, boron-containing HRC are now in the range $610-620 per tonne fob, narrowing upwards from $605-620 per tonne fob on February 4 – source: MB


-       Construction steel prices in China extended the upward trend. Prices of 6.5mm HPB235 (steel wire) increased by RMB 14 per tonne to RMB 3,867 per tonne and prices of 20mm HRB335 (deformed bar) rose by RMB 19 per tonne to RMB 3,899 per tonne – source: SteelHome

Steel Prices in other countries


-          The Metal Bulletin daily index for HMS 1&2 (80:20) scrap remained unchanged on Monday at $380 per tonne cfr – source: MB

-          Ex-UK cargo comprising 30,000 tonnes of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $390 per tonne and 6,000 tonnes of bonus at $406 per tonne cfr Izmir traded late on February 15 – source: MB


-          The London Metal Exchange’s three-month steel billet contract prices fell to $280-290 per tonne on Tuesday February 19, from $290-300 per tonne on Monday – source: MB


-          Major Taiwanese rebar makers Feng Hsin Iron & Steel and Hai Kwang Enterprise raised their domestic list prices by TWD 200/metric ton ($7/mt) on Tuesday – source: SBB


-          Tokyo Steel’s new domestic list price for 1.7-22mm SPHC hot rolled coil is ¥62,000/to, up by ¥2,000/ton – source: Yieh
