China's cold rolled sheet and coated sheet products export to ASEAN

China’s export of cold rolled sheet for the period January to October 2011 increased by 34% y-o-y to 3.9 million tonnes. Export to ASEAN declined by 19% y-o-y to 525,000 tonnes whereas export to non-ASEAN countries rose significantly by 48% y-o-y to 3.5 million tonnes. Export to Indonesia dropped from 154,000 tonnes in the first ten months of 2010 to 104,000 tonnes in the first ten months of 2011. Export to Vietnam also declined by more than half to 84,000 tonnes in the first ten months of 2011. Meanwhile, export to Thailand doubled in volume to 123,000 tonnes for the period January to October 2011. Export to Singapore rose from 19,000 tonnes in the first ten months of 2010 to 25,000 tonnes in the same period of 2011. Export to Malaysia stagnated at 82,000 tonnes in the first ten months of 2011.

China’s export of coated sheet continued to increase significantly, from 6.7 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2010 to 10 million tonnes in the same period of 2011. Export to ASEAN nearly doubled in volume to 1.5 million tonnes while export to non-ASEAN countries rose from 5.8 million tonnes to 8.6 million tonnes.

Export of hot dipped galvanized sheet (HDG) and electro-galvanized sheet (EG) from China rose substantially, by more than 30% y-o-y to 4 million tonnes and 160,000 tonnes respectively, in the first ten months of 2011. However, export to ASEAN was somewhat stagnated, at 400,000 tonnes and 15,000 tonnes respectively, in the same period of 2011.

Meanwhile, China’s export of tin plate and tin free products to ASEAN saw a significant increase, by 19% and 26%, respectively. Export of color coated sheet from China, at 4.6 million tonnes in the first ten months of 2011, was an increase of 84% from the same period of 2010. Export to ASEAN rose by more than three-folds to 645,000 tonnes in the period January to October 2011. Export to Vietnam registered 84,000 tonnes, an increase of 133% y-o-y. Export to Philippines rose sharply by 128% to 129,000 tonnes. Export to Singapore jumped by six-folds to 312,000 tonnes. Export to Thailand doubled in volume to 52,000 tonnes. Meanwhile, export to Malaysia rose by 33% to 20,000 tonnes.
