Sustainable Operations in the New Carbon Age: The DuPont Experience
In 1989, Ed Woolard became CEO of DuPont and, ahead of his time, created the term 'Corporate Environmentalism' and committed DuPont to a set of goals that went well beyond compliance. In 1998 when Chad Holliday became CEO, he built on these successes by creating the term 'sustainable growth' which became the mission of the company. Today DuPont continues to innovate, strategise and actively pursue the goal of zero injuries, illnesses, incidents, waste, emission and use of depletable forms of raw material and energy. This presentation gives an overview on how DuPont is making sustainability an integral and strategic business imperative, and how its strategy can work for other businesses with similar aspirations.
